THE highlight of this match was Gary Cowling's unbeaten 105 for Isleham, which included 12 fours and three sixes as he demonstrated his class at this level.

Isleham made 218-6 from their 45 overs.

In reply, Linton were always struggling to keep up with the required rate. Fitchett introduced the dual spin attack of Stuart Dunsmuir and Steve Thurley and this signalled the end for Linton as both generated huge amounts of turn from the Isleham pitch. Dunsmuir finished with 5-6 from four overs and Thurley 2-2 from 2.1 overs. Linton were bowled out for 92. These two class spin bowlers may provide the key to Isleham's success this season.

Tucker Premier League

Sawston 230 Fordham 99

Sawston won by 131 runs

FORDHAM lost their latest Tucker Premier League match at Sawston by 130 runs.

Facing a target in excess of 230, Fordham were caught on a low, bouncing wicket that seemed to deteriorate as the match progressed.

Fordham were eventually bowled out for a disappointing 99.

National Village Championship

Fordham 148 Weston Colville 149-6

Weston Colville won by four wickets

FORDHAM were also eliminated at the group stage of the National Village Championship after suffering a four-wicket defeat at the hands of Weston Colville.

Fordham once again failed to use all their overs when batting despite setting a very creditable early pace. Scott Blaber (34) and Darren Theobald (27) scored most of the runs as Fordham were bowled out for 148.

To their credit, Fordham bowled and fielded very well but their total was perhaps 30 runs adrift of their target.

Gundersen (34) top-scored for Colville and Clinton Cornwell's spell of nine overs, six maidens for 15 put his side in with a real chance of victory.

CCA Division 1N

Fordham II 238-3 Longstanton 242-6

Longstanton won by four wickets

AFTER a maginificent game of cricket, Fordham were beaten with just two balls remaining.

Longstanton Grasshoppers were up against it early on, chasing the home side's 238-3 from 40 overs, but two fine innings from Aspinall (91 not out) and Pipe (50), saw the visitors home by the skin of their teeth.

Earlier, Fordham had batted well on a good pitch with Barry Houghton carrying his bat for 86 and fine contributions from Nev Bussingham (48) and Adam Cornwell (45).

Although Fordham will be disappointed with the result, cricket was undoubtedly the winner, with 480 runs being scored in the match.

Cambridge Granta IV 137-7

Little Downham 138-5

Little Downham won by five wickets

PETER Baker's knock helped Downham to a win, but not without a few scares.

Baker thumped eight fours and two sixes in his 72 to set up triumph for Downham after they had lost four early wickets batting second.

Baker helped steady the ship and his unbeaten knock proved pivotal. He also weighed in with two wickets, well-supported by Chris Lupson, with 2-17.

Witcham 144-9 Littleport 148-6

Littleport won by four wickets

A PARTNERSHIP of 106 between Littleport openers Jamie Leonard and Terry Stone put the visitors on their way to a four-wicket win in this match.

Chasing 145 to win, Port got off to a flying start thanks to Leonard and Stone, with the former hitting 61 and the latter 51.

Leonard was particularly explosive, his effort coming off just 55 balls and featuring three sixes.

Despite losing some cheap wickets, Port were able to stumble over the winning line.

Nigel Phillips and Chris Houghton took all six Port wickets to fall, the former's 4-34 off eight overs the pick.

Phillips had earlier starred with the bat, hitting 43, but he received little support from his team-mates. Father and son combination James and Andy South took two wickets each for Port, while Leonard and Steve Connop also had two dismissals each to celebrate.

CCA Division 2NA

Fen Ditton 153-9 (all out) Sutton 159-4

Sutton won by six wickets

A PARTNERSHIP of 117 between Mike Vincent and Rob Braybrooke put Sutton on the road to victory in this league clash.

There were nine fours and three sixes in Vincent's knock of 84, a cavalier innings which gave Sutton just the impetus they needed at the top of the order.

Colin Coulson hit four sixes to finish the match off.

Fen Ditton, playing with only 10 men, found runs difficult to come by thanks to good bowling from Sutton.

Coulson was the pick of the bowlers on a slow wicket, taking 4-20 off six overs.

Sutton went about chasing their target with efficiency, being continually above the run-rate.

Next week Sutton travel to Coton.

Soham 93 Coton 95-5

Coton won by five wickets

SOHAM suffered their second defeat of the season on Saturday against Coton.

Soham batted first and were soon in trouble when Coton's R Chandler took Soham's first wicket leaving them on 8-1 in the fourth over. He continued to take wickets at regular intervals.

Opener Todd Bridgland and Keith Metcalfe put up some resistance with a partnership of 29, with Metcalfe striking two hefty sixes along the way. However the wheels began to come off when Bridgland and Metcalfe were both dismissed in the 25th over by R Allison when trying to increase the run rate, Bridgland for 28 and Metcalfe for 19 respectively.

The remaining Soham batsman managed to hang around and scored vital runs leaving Soham with a total of 93.

Tony Kirby-Cook made early inroads taking a wicket in his first over he along with Keith Metcalfe kept it tight and Coton soon found themselves 26-5 with both bowlers two wickets apiece. Metcalfe finished up with figures of 5-2 off his 10 overs with an impressive seven maidens and Kirby Cook with 27-2 off his 10 overs.

Despite their accurate bowling Soham could not remove Coton's Chandler (48) whose partnership of 69 with Allison (24) led to victory for Coton in the 38th over.

CCA Division 2NB

Wilburton 211-7 Longstowe II 207-8

Wilburton won by four runs

WILBURTON edged a thriller by four runs despite a late burst from Longstowe.

Opener Dominic Drane got Wilburton's innings off to a good start, hitting six fours and one six in 53. He and Andy Buller added 50 in 26 minutes before Ian Jacobs came in further down the order to assert himself.

Jacobs' 44 featured six fours and one six as Wilburton totalled 211-7 off their 40 overs.

Wilburton's opening bowler Steve Marshall gave little away in his 10 overs, but a 124-minute innings of 50 by Nigel Reynolds underpinned the Longstowe chase.

Shaun Davenport's 28 maintained the momentum and Kirk Freezer's unbeaten 52, featuring six fours and one six, helped Longstowe hit 47 in the last five overs.

Wilburton's cause was not helped by a litany of dropped catches, but they still managed to win.

CCA Division 3NA

Chatteris II 149 Pymoor 155-1

Pymoor won by nine wickets

JAMIE Butcher's superb 96 not out helped Pymoor ease to victory over Chatteris' second-string.

Butcher's knock was laced with fours and sixes, and he cleared the rope three times as he hit the Chatteris attack to all parts of the ground.

His efforts followed on from a fine performance by Pymoor's bowlers, Eifion Davies taking 4-36 off nine overs, to dismiss Chatteris for 149.

CCA Division 3NB

Longstanton II 53 Sutton II 57-1

Sutton II won by nine wickets

SUTTON II recorded third straight win at the hands of Longstanton II.

Longstanton batted first, posting 53 all out. The pick of the bowlers were A Toulson getting 6-19 off five overs and R Powell getting 2-29 off five overs.

Sutton took 9.5 overs to get the winning runs, the pick of the batting was D Braybrooke 28 not out and C Robinson 18.

CCA Division 4NB

Burwell IV 108 Fordham III 109-3

Fordham III won by seven wickets

TWO predominantly young sides featured in this match, with Fordham's third-string coming out on top by seven wickets.

Luke Arnold took 4-19 as Burwell were dismissed for 108 and then Chris Foulds helped Fordham home, making 58 not out.

Charlie Wills made an impressive debut with bat and ball for Fordham.

Isleham II 205 March IV 206-7

March won by three wickets

ISLEHAM II travelled to top-of-the-table March IV for this clash.

Isleham came to terms with the artificial pitch and managed to score 205 from their 40 overs with John Goff rolling back the years to score 50. The highlight of the innings though was 16 year old James Norman scoring 22 which comprised four fours and a six.

Isleham thought this total would be more than enough but some dreadful fielding and seven dropped catches allowed the big-hitting March batsmen to score at a tremendous rate.

Robert Blair once again showed the rest of the team how to catch with a magnificent catch at mid-on.

Kirkland Cup

Little Downham 175-8 Pymoor 60

Little Downham won by 115 runs

PETER Baker was the hero for Downham, superb figures of 7-11 polishing off Pymoor with ease.

Baker accounted for most of the Pymoor order single-handedly, but he did at least allow Ryan Palmer to take two wickets.

Baker's stunning performance came after Downham posted 175-8, Phil Cornwell with an unbeaten 51 and Laxman Singh hitting 42.

Cambs Junior Cup

Cambridge Granta IV 336-6 Littleport 254

Granta IV won by 82 runs

LITTLEPORT bowed out of the Junior Cup despite an impressive sixth-wicket partnership between Gary James and James South.

The pair put on 181, South making 94 and James 83.

Although their efforts put Port in with a chance, it was not enough. Granta's massive total was thanks largely to 205 from T Stephens.

Old Wilhads 201 Longstowe 103

Old Wilhads won by 98 runs

GLEN Griffiths' 56 helped Wilhads to a convicing win over Longstowe.

Griffiths' half-century, which featured nine fours, was the mainstay of the Wilhads' batting effort, but there were also contributions from Paul Giddings (32), Bob Moodliar (27) and Roger Brunning (25).

The scattergun efforts of Longstowe's bowlers were also shown as they conceded 50 extras.

An all-round bowling effort soon accounted for Longstowe, who colud only muster 103. Pick of the bowlers was Ian Golding, with 3-7, but there were two scalps each for Griffiths, Ian Giddings and Brunning.

Extras was again a high scorer in the Longstowe innings, notching 27.

Ely/Haddenham II 231-9 Parson Drove 80

Ely/Haddenham II won by 151 runs

HAVING lost the toss Ely were put into bat, and made a very competitive 231-9 off of 40 overs. Top scorer was Ed Aniskowicz with 58 not out, who hit out aggressively in the last nine overs of the innings. This was his second

unbeaten 50 in as many weeks.

Other notable scores were K Dasgupta's 47, captain Benjamin Storey's 31 and Andrew Foster's 23.

In response, Newly formed Parson Drove did not threaten the Ely score and were deservedly bowled out for 80 runs, with Luke Emson taking three of the wickets.

This week sees Ely at home to unbeaten Bluntisham.
