Abington v Fordham

Fordham won by six wickets

FORDHAM moved up the Tucker Premier League table with a fine six-wicket victory at Abington.

The home side made a good start, but the introduction of spin bowler Chris Rule changed the game.

The dismissals of Duquemin (30) and Randall (32) put Abington onto the back foot and Rule continued the good work to take 5-28 and help destroy the home side, who lost their last eight wickets for 34 runs.

Rule was well supported by the Harding brothers, Jason (3-18) and Gavin (3-25).

Fordham had an early scare when they lost two early wickets but Darren Theobald (39 not out) and Gavin Harding (18) put their side on the road to victory.

Kimbolton and Catworth I v Burwell I

Burwell won by 37 runs

BURWELL'S solid total of 195-9 included an outstanding performance by Jack O'Keefe, who top scored with 65.

Alan Nash was also in good form to score 52 not out in the face of fine bowling from Kimbolton's Moore (4-48). Steven Marsh was also among the wickets to take 2-56.

Kimbolton struggled against the Burwell bowling attack, with Edward Humphreys top scoring with 44.

Benjamin Cross (4-33), Adam Huckle (3-23) and David Stannard (3-56) did enough to limit the home batsmen to 158.

March III v Wilburton

March won by one wicket

A DRAMATIC game at March saw Wilburton lose the match on the final ball. Ian Jacobs, with seven fours and three sixes, scored half the runs in Wilburton's total of 159-6.

Jacobs and Chris Stubbington added 52 undefeated for the seventh wicket.

March came in to bat and Dennis Furnell (46) and Dave Wright put on 57 for the third wicket before the home side collapsed to 139-8 in the 38th over.

The ninth wicket fell at 145 but John Mortlock and Geoff Shepherd saw March to the points off the last ball, finishing on 160-9.

Wilburton's bowling attack was led by Hughes (3-27) and Jacobs (3-28).

Girton II v Littleport II

Girton won by 110 runs

LITTLEPORT had no answer to the Girton bowlers as they lost by 110 runs on Saturday.

The Girton innings was led by good knocks from John Burton (43), Stephen Tyrell (38) and Shaun Purse (29) as the home side posted 191-8.

Richard Dickinson (4-26) returned the best bowling figures for the visitors with Richard Scott (2-37) offering good support.

Littleport's batsmen collapsed under an early devastating spell of bowling from Ritchie Carter who reduced the visitors to 18-4.

Martin Parry then found his line and length to dismiss opener Robin Freestone (23) and return 4-21 as Littleport were bowled out for just 81.

Fordham III v Burwell IV

Fordham won by eight wickets

BURWELL regretted the decision to bat when Andrew Judd (14) and Alex Foreman (12) were the only batsmen to reach double figures.

Their lowly total of 102 was a result of good bowling from Charlie Wills (4-28), Nick Clark (3-9) and James Adams (2-9).

Fordham were never in any danger of missing out on victory and Steven Wills (39) and Ryan Houghton (37 not out) eased them to their target.

Cambs Invitation Cup final

Burwell I v Abington I

Burwell won by 126 runs

BURWELL won the cup with an excellent performance with both bat and ball.

Daniel Jones (74), Jack O'Keefe (43), Henry James (45), Paul Redfarn (34) and Alan Nash (34 not out) all featured in Burwell's total of 275-8.

Abington's Stuart Duquemin took 3-69 and was supported by Nick Avery (2-70) and James Fairburn (2-29).

Abington openers Stuart Duquemin (23) and Guy Ennew (20) made a good start but their team slumped to 84-6 after Jack O'Keefe, Jordan King and Adam Huckle took two wickets apiece.

Abington eventually succumbed for 149 after 36.5 overs.

Jordan King, playing his debut, won man of the match after returning 4-26 in a superb display of hostile seam bowling.
