After spending time at the British Grand Prix earlier this month rubbing shoulders with the cream of Formula One, it was back to her own racing this weekend for Bryony King.
The Ely College student – who leads the Hunts Kart Racing Club Championship - had a well-fought battle at Kimbolton on Sunday in the latest leg of her bid to be crowned junior karting champion.
Starting the first heat from thirteenth on the grid, King, 15, fought her way through the field to finish a respectable fifth and was among the fastest drivers on the track. The second heat saw King drive from 10th position up to second and, with a third place finish in the last heat, this put her second on the grid for the final race.
She led for the majority of the final but couldn’t hold off the advances of the second-placed driver on the last lap and came across the line in second place.
Though she didn’t take top spot, the series of results further increased her lead in the Mini Max standings to 45 points from second-placed Samuel Cornwell.
