In the second half constant handling errors stopped Ely from crossing the line.

Finally Mitchell Kennett found space and sprinted up the middle, fending off several would-be tacklers in the process, and dotted down for a converted try. Ely were unable to score the bonus point try and in the last five minutes Crusaders were awarded countless penalties.

Ely were unable to keep up their solid defence with the constant barrage of attacks and Crusaders finally crossed the line in the last play for an unconverted try.
