SOHAM’S impressive pre-season campaign continued to gather momentum on Tuesday night as they triumphed 3-1 at St Ives.

The Greens came in to the game on the back of a superlative 3-1 win at Cogenhoe last week and they hit top form once again at St Ives as they cantered to victory, though their evening was soured somewhat by a worrying achilles injury sustained by Richard Gammon that saw him leave the ground in an ambulance at half-time.

Ian Benjamin’s men were quick to set the tone for the match as Gammon drilled home from the edge of the area to open the scoring after just 12 minutes. Ives rallied to the setback however, and former Soham forward Ozzie Foster restored parity less than five minutes later, scrambling home from close range after the Soham defence failed to clear a cross.

Though centre back Tom Liberatore headed against the bar late in the first half, it wasnt until the 70th minute that Soham finally went ahead once more as the ever-impressive Dubi Ogbonna slotted home from range after being put through by Deakan Napier.

Soham continued to dictate the play in the latter stages and got an arguably deserved third goal in injury time as Will Seymore blasted home from outside the area.
