Witham Town spoiled the debuts of two high-profile signings for Soham Town Rangers after they came from behind to send the Greens to a second consecutive league defeat.

Attentions turned towards the Greens’ starting line-up on Saturday afternoon following the news that former Manchester United midfielder and Premier League winner Luke Chadwick had joined the club on Friday, with Cambridge United starlet Ryan Horne joining him on a month-long youth loan.

Both came into Rangers’ starting XI, but neither could prevent a defeat, however, as Witham came from behind to take a 2-1 victory and send Soham to a third game without a win.

Ryan Sharman gave the Greens the lead a minute before half-time with a well taken penalty, but a spirited second half performance from the side from Essex saw them take all three points with goals from Nathan Koranteng and Ryan Charles.

Defeat for Soham sees them drop to 19th in the Ryman Divison One North, with a tough test away to sixth-place Tilbury up next for Robbie Nightingale and Dave Theobald’s men on Saturday (3pm).
