Lowestoft took the lead after 20 minutes when a defender was allowed to head home unmarked from a corner. There was no further scoring before half-time but Lowestoft doubled their lead on 55 minutes with a close-range shot.

They made the game safe with a third on 65 minutes and added a fourth 15 minutes from time. Andy Furnell's 20-yard curling shot on 79 minutes was little more than consolation.

Benjamin said: "We gave four goals away. It was the sort of game where neither side had many chances, but we defended badly and were punished.

"We gave the ball away high up the pitch too much, but they never created any chances other than the goals we gave them.
