SOHAM boss Ian Benjamin felt like his side were “mugged” in their game against play-off hopefuls Arlesey Town on Tuesday night.

Benjamin said his side produced one of their performances of the season against the high flyers and were only a slice of luck away from a comfortable victory.

“We were mugged,” said Benjamin. “They had their moments throughout the game but we played very well from the first minute to the last, dominated the game and I don’t know how we came away with nothing. It was the best performance that I have seen from these lads this season.”

Arlesey’s goal came in the 63rd minute through striker Aston Goss, consigning Soham to their first defeat in six matches.

The Greens were far from overawed though, and were unlucky not to bag a goal of their own as Deakan Napier struck inches wide in the first half and Michael Simpson hit the post with a header.

The result leaves the Greens 11 points clear of relegation threatened Beaconsfield SYCOB albeit having played two games more.

Boss Benjamin said he was always confident his side were steer clear of relegation this season and said that victory at Northwood on Saturday should go a long way to securing their Zameretto League status for next season.
