ELY 2's overcame a sluggish start to pick up a resounding 4-1 win over struggling Huntingdon.
Despite a flat opening period in which both sides floundered, Ely managed to regroup and found a cutting edge in attack that ultimately afforded them a comfortable victory.
The win sees Ely move up into fourth place in Division 2 of the Cambs League following previous incumbents St Neots 3-0 loss at home to Bourne.
The opener for the home side came after 22 minutes when, following a war of attrition in the midfield, Jess Finch managed to find an iota of space in which to poke home amid a crowd of defenders.
The lead was doubled mere minutes into the second-half when the ever impressive Nan Armer slotted home following some admirable work down the left-wing from Jess Haws.
Stirred into action by the setback, Huntingdon grew into the game and began to pose Ely some problems going forward. The visitors forays were eventually rewarded after fifteen minutes when a penalty corner was squeezed home to reduce the deficit to a single goal.

In the wake of the goal, Hunts pressed yet further forward and an encroaching sense of foreboding swept the Ely team as their defence became for desperate. Fortuitously for the home side though, Hester Bowers broke away to restore the lead, albeit with more than a hint of a foot involved.
There were certainly no complaints from Ely though, as the goal breathed life back into their game and saw them regain drive enough to seal the points with 10 minutes left as Armer popped up again to complete the scoring.
