ELY-BASED hockey star, Scott Gilmour, has been selected for Great Britain under-20 trials.

The 16-year-old, who recently left Witchford Village College, will be competing to be part of the squad which will play in the Junior Olympic festival, to be held in Sydney, in January next year.

Gilmour, who plays on the right-side of midfield, impressed selectors with his recent performances for the England under-18 team, where he helped them to secure victory in the Home Nations Tournament.

Gilmour's hockey career has gone from strength to strength. He was an instrumental part of Ely Hockey Club's successful 2005 season, when they were promoted and reached the semi-final of the HA Trophy, and then moved to Ipswich to play National League hockey, where he has enjoyed a very successful first season.
