GOLDIE Sayers produced a disappointing end to her season finishing sixth at the IAAF World Athletics final in Stuttgart.

She was perhaps feeling the effects of a hard season herself as she managed only 58.04 metres - more than five metres down on her British record.

Barbora Spotakova from the Czech Republic confirmed her position as the world's top female javelin thrower with a sensational world record. She achieved 72.28 metres with her first attempt, beating her previous best by 86 cm to win the event.
