Kirk Stamford continued his impressive recent form by lifting the Ely Sailing Club Junior Trophy last weekend.

Stamford held off the competition of five other young sailors to claim the trophy, with two wins from three races.

He was forced to settle for second place in the opening race after Ted Pepper sailed home in first, but made amends by easing to success in the second race. Pepper capsized but managed to finish in second and Ben Briggs, who was sailing in one of his first races, came third.

In the third and final race, Ted managed to cross the line in first but Kirk claimed the win on corrected time, handing him the overall victory.

The first three races of the August Mini Series also got underway, with John Wells claiming two firsts in his Laser, and Chandler Stamford claiming a victory, also sailing a Laser.
