Four King’s Ely students represented Cambridge RFC Under 16’s last weekend as part of an annual tour to Edinburgh.

Max Stubbings, 16, along with Fred Hughes, Archie Haynes, and Chris Jobe, 15, all from Cambridgeshire, were part of a 20-strong party of players to tour the Scottish capital.

Unfortunately, the fixture against Langholm RFC on Friday afternoon fell victim to Storm Doris. Instead, the team were able to train and have a ‘Captain’s Run’ on the 3G pitches at Stirling Sports Village.

On Saturday morning, the fixture against Portobello RFC was moved to a nearby 4G pitch, where a very competitive match took place, Cambridge RFC losing narrowly 17-14. Following the game, the boys took in Scotland’s win over Wales at Murrayfield Stadium.

Head of Rugby at King’s Ely, Jim Thompson, said: “We as a school like to maintain healthy relationships with local clubs. It was great to see four of our King’s Ely rugby boys go on tour to Scotland with Cambridge RFC over the weekend.
