2017 has proved to be a successful year for King’s Ely’s rowers – and 13 of the school’s talents added to their impressive five months so far with a medal-grabbing outing at the National OarSport Junior Sculling Regatta.

The competition offers races in boat classes that are not on offer at the National Schools Regatta, meaning it attracts some of the best junior scullers from across the country.

The highlight for King’s Ely was achieved by Rebecca Garrett and Holly Lancaster, who came second in the women’s under 15 double scull.

Rebecca and Holly won their heat and went into the final as the second fastest qualifiers. In the A final, they produced an impressive display to secure a silver medal.

Edmund Dickens and Thomas Oldham also came third in the men’s under 18 double scull. Despite competing against some strong opposition on the day, the duo went on to win a bronze medal in the A final.
