SIX members of Ely Roller Skating Club have been given the honour of representing Great Britain in artistic roller-skating after a selection session at Watford.
They will travel to Freiburg in Germany next week to compete in one of the most prestigious competitions in Europe, the German Cup. They will compete against some of the best skaters in Europe, including teams from Italy, Spain, Germany and Switzerland.
Several of these skaters are also British champions in their age groups. They will be defending their titles in the next few months at the British Championships, which are held in Alfreton, Derbyshire, and Haywards Heath, West Sussex. All skaters are coached by Paul McIllone, former British, European and world medallist, at the Paradise Centre in Ely. The skaters train with Paul twice a week, and his sessions are open to new skaters on Saturdays from 1-3pm.
