Both Ely teams were at Burwell, for the latest round of under-11 matches and both were playing with no substitutes. Ely II were fielding a new player, Heather Dunand, drafted in this week to enable them to play.

In their first game, Ely were soon behind to a strike in the first minute from Herne Bay United. With no visible formation to the team, they were soon under a lot of pressure. Incredibly the match finished 9-0 to Herne, just as it had last time they met.

Ely II faced second-placed team King's Lynn in their first match. Goalkeeper Emma Gillett managed to keep them out till the 10th minute before conceding the first of three firstst half goals. Goals from Max Dunand and Steph Collier closed the gap to 3-2, but King's Lynn hit back and finished the game 5-2 winners.

Ely faced the Eastern Counties Mix team next. Ely started to pass the ball around a lot more in this match and managed to create lots of openings. However, they were outscored, finally losing 11-3, with Rees Parfitt scoring all three goals.

Ely against King's Lynn proved to be target practice for Lynn. With Chloe Brown in goal for the first time ever, she faced shots from all angles and eventually saw plenty go past her in the match. However, a moment of brilliance saw Rees Parfitt pierce their defence and score Ely's consolation goal in their 16-1 defeat.

A closer match than last time between the two Ely teams still saw Ely II win again.

With Parfitt in goal, Ely found it hard to put away their chances in a good competitive game. Three goals from Max Dunand in the firstst half and then one each from Aiden Cooper, Steph Collier and Max Dunand in the second half completed the 6-0 victory.

Compliments were paid to all of Ely's players by the other teams for the effort they made with no available substitutes.

Players of the day were Max Dunand (Ely II) and Rees Parfitt (Ely).

BIRTHDAY PRESENT: Rees Parfitt (centre) scores one of this three goals for Ely against the Eastern Counties Mix team.
