RIDGEONS LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION
Felixstowe & Walton United 6 Ely City 2
DEFENDER Ben Lawrence headed City into the lead after just two minutes, but Felixstowe responded by scoring twice in a minute on their way to an impressive win.
Bradley Barber levelled the scores with a great 12th minute volley from the edge of the area, and a low drive from Andy Claydon went under the body of goalkeeper Leigh Follen as the hosts established a 2-1 lead.
It was end to end after that, but after breaking away from a City corner Danny Stanley carried the ball from his own half to fire in the home side's third goal.
In the 37th minute the match was as good as over, with Claydon setting up Danny Phillips to score with another volley from 18 yards.
Ely pressed forward desperately after the break, and both teams had 'goals' ruled out for offside.
It was Claydon however, who scored again to extend the home side's advantage, and substitute Andrew Lewis rifled home goal number six to open his Felixstowe account.
A headed own goal accounted for Ely's second goal of the afternoon, but they finished the match a well-beaten side.
The Robins were at home to Great Shelford in the Preliminary Round of the Cambridge Invitation Cup on Tuesday night, and on Saturday welcome Whitton United to the Unwin Ground in a league match.
