ELY City boss Denis Lightning is adamant his side will be playing to win when they take on the might of Cambridge City in their cup semi-final clash tonight.

Faced with the daunting task of taking on the Southern Premier League side on their home patch, the Robins could be forgiven for adopting a negative approach. Lightning is adamant however, that his side will be giving it their all,

"In the last few years we have played Cambridge at home and we have had a real good go at them so I see no reason why we won't go into the game on Tuesday and play to win it, he said.

"Even though they are two leagues above us and they more or less win this tournament every year, we will play our normal game and with a bit of luck you never know what can happen."

Although Lightning expects to have more or less a full squad to choose from for the tie, he will be left without the services of striker Robbie Mason who has proved a revelation since his return from Cambridge in January,

"We are still waiting to see how his scans turn out but we are fairly sure that he has done his ankle ligaments which means two or three weeks out, he said.

"But these things happen and the lads who are coming in to replace him know they will have to work hard."

The game, to be held at City's Milton Road ground tonight, kicks off at 7.45pm.
