Robins make a splash at Paradise Pools

Football THE Ely City first team squad were making a splash at the Paradise Pools this week as the club unveiled a new sponsorship deal.

Everyone Active, the company managing the Ely facility, has teamed up with the Robins to offer the players free swimming time and aqua aerobics classes to help their push up the Thurlow Nunn League this season.

On Saturday, a group of players led by captain Lee Pacey and boss Alan Alsop were at the pool, just off Newnham Street, to celebrate the new partnership and to check out the facilities they will be enjoying this season.

As it turned out, a few laps in the pool was about as much action as the Robins saw on Saturday as the visit of Haverhill Rovers to the Unwin Ground was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

Alsop’s men are scheduled to be back in action on Saturday as they travel to league rivals Wivenhoe.
