RIDGEONS LEAGUE, FIRST DIVISION
Debenham 2 Ely City 2
ELY missed a golden opportunity to improve their league position by letting a two-goal lead slip against second-placed Debenham. Mark Johnson gave the visitors the lead in the 22nd minute when he drifted in from the left to volley home Dean Blackman's cross, and Robbie Mason made it 2-0, five minutes before the break, with a scissor-kick.
But the home side scored with the final kick of the first half from the penalty spot.
A Debenham forward headed home the equaliser, 10 minutes from time, after Ely keeper Leigh Follen failed to collect a cross.
- Ely were given a bye into the third round of the Hunts Premier Cup after their opponents Great Paxton had to withdraw from the competition because they were unable to raise a team.
Ely's next match is at home against Haverhill Rovers in the league on Saturday.
