ELY City were dumped out of the Cambs Invitation Cup on Tuesday night after a 5-1 thrashing at the hands of CRC.
The Cambridge United scholars side have been in electric from so far this season and Ely never looked likely to threaten their 10-game winning run as goals from Luke Berry, Rory McAuley, Jack Bailey and Adam Marriot alongside an Ely own goal completed a comfortable win for the visitors. Ely's consolation came via a Tom Beech penalty.
Ely, whose focus will no doubt no shift to league competition as they host Hadleigh Town on Saturday.
* The Robins fielded an ineligible player in their 1-1 draw at home to Newmarket Town on August 18 and Ridegons League bosses have ordered the match to be replayed on December 8.
