Robins cup clash postponed

Ely City’s Tuesday night clash against March was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch

The ROBINS Ridgeons League Challenge Cup clash against rivals March was called off on Tuesday night after heavy rain rendered the Unwin Ground pitch unplayable.

Last night’s (Wednesday) reserve team fixture against Newmarket Town Reserves was also postponed.

ELY City slipped to their third consecutive league defeat on Saturday at the hands of big-spending Norwich United.

Two first half goals from the hosts rocked Alan Alsop’s men and despite a promising second-half performance, they were unable to find a way back into the match.

The loss leaves the Robins in 16th place in the Ridgeons Premier Division with a tricky clash against Wivenhoe on Saturday.

It took just three minutes for Norwich to open the scoring as Ben Furlong pounced on the rebound from a Lee Pacey save to fire home.
