ELY City exacted revenge over Ipswich & East Suffolk on Saturday as they sailed to a comfortable victory.
The visitors comfortably brushed past Ely in their encounter prior to Christmas but a rejuvenated Ely side, proved an altogether different proposition on this occasion and eased to a resounding win.
Ely started brightly and created several scoring chances throughout the early stages of the game but failed to find the finishing touch. Eventually Ely opened the scoring through Dan Jolley to go into the half time break with a slim lead despite having the majority of the play in the first half.
'On average, Ely notch up 3.7 goals per game.'

Ely upped their tempo in the second half and some flowing play midway through the half allowed two further goals for Dan Jolley, a brace for in-form Tommy Hugo and a rare foray up front from skipper Chris Purllant allowed a short corner drag flick to be despatched with ease. Ipswich pulled a goal back late on but never really troubled the solid Ely defence as the game petered out.
