ELY Runner Craig Holgate left the competition trailing in his wake as he romped to victory in the Wymondham 20 Mile Road Race in Norfolk.

Holgate came home several minutes clear of his nearest competitor in 1 hour 58 minutes and capped an excellent win with a new course and club senior record in the popular pre-London Marathon warm-up.

There was also a noteworthy performance from Graham Chapman who continued to raise his stock with another personal best time and club MV50 record of 2hours 17 minutes.

Good performances from Adam Etches, Natalle Etches and Nick Dowdy completed an all-round good day for the club with a number of high placed finishers among the 263 entrants in the Norfolk race.
