ELY City's hopes of league cup success were dashed after they suffered an 8-0 drubbing at the hands of Histon Reserves on Wednesday night.
Despite recent success in both league and cup competition, Ely played with an endemic lack of confidence and were punished by a ruthless Histon side, who progress to the second round.
The Stutes led by three goals at half-time and scored five goals in a frantic last half-hour. Simon Unwin and Michael Frew each netted a brace all scored two, with Sam Long , Daniel Sparkes, Andrew Tidswell, and Craig Hammond all netted.
