Horses from Gloucestershire, Cheshire and Sussex travelled down to Cambridgeshire on Sunday (27) for the first of three races in the village this season.

Dale Peters, on his horse All The Sevens, was victorious in the open maiden race despite a telling off from the stewards, and Sam Davies-Thomas came out on top in the second on promising four-year-old, Extreme Appeal.

Davies-Thomas also experienced success in the member’s conditions race on Lough Inch, which has now won on five visits to Cottenham.

Father and son combination Alan and Joe Hill eased to victory on stable favourite, Consigliere, in the men’s open.

The next meeting takes place at the Point-to-Point Owners & Riders Club, Wiltshire, on Sunday before it returns to Cottenham on December 31.

The final Cambridgeshire race of the season takes place on Sunday February 11 2017.
