Athletics Littleport athlete Louise Stableford qualified for the Anglian Schools Athletics Championships after a strong performance at the Cambridgeshire County Championships, held at the weekend.

Stableford, 15, took second place in the 200m in a time of 27.7secs and followed it up with another second place in the 300m, in a time of 45.3secs.

The Cambridge and Coleridge athlete earned a place at next week’s Anglian championships in both the 200m and 300m races on the back of her efforts.

The Cambridgeshire championships saw young athletes from schools in Ely, Cambridge, Huntingdon and Peterborough compete in a variety of track and field events, from discuss through to 100.

The event was won by Cambridge, with Peterborough second, Huntingdon third and Ely taking fourth.
