A RETURN to their lamentable early season form with the bat saw Wilburton lose out by a 122 runs at Wimblington.

Though their scoring with the bat has steadily improved and brought with it some decent victories for Tony Jacobs' men in recent weeks, shades of their earlier vulnerability returned at the weekend as Wimblington cruised to victory.

Opting to bowl first, Wilburton made some decent in-roads into the home line-up but came unstuck against a particularly troublesome middle-order which put together a couple of decisive partnerships to reach 196. S Marshall was the stand-out performer on the day for Wilburton as he took 5-41 from his 10 over spell.

Some ruthless bowling from Wimblington's pace attack proved decisive in defence of their total as Wilburton folded under the pressure. Andy Buller top-scored for the visitors with 15 as they were bowled out for just 74.
