PYMOOR gave their chances of promotion a huge boost after recording a battling four wicket win over Sutton.
A typically strong bowling performance from Steve Saberton's men saw them seize the upper hand early on from Sutton, with the job completed with typical efficiency by the batsmen in a little over 30 overs.
Steve Saberton's men now sit less than a single average point behind second-placed Wimblington, in the CCA Junior League 2A who they meet in crunch back-to-back encounters in the coming weeks.
Having won the toss, Sutton opted to have a bat despite their recent woes with the willow that has seldom seen them climb above 150.
Up against a strong bowing attack, Sutton struggled to get going as Pymoor's Lorens Herschelman tore into the top order. Ably assisted by Chris Baker who picked up a brace of wickets for his efforts, Herschelman took 4-23 Sutton wickets to ensure the home side finished on 126-9.
Needing a little over three per-over for the win, Pymoor began in typically brisk fashion in a bid to knock of the total in prompt fashion. A couple of early wickets halted their progress though as Sutton fought back commendably.
The arrival of Paul Ruskin to the crease changed the match however, as the all rounder struck a ruthless 62 to weather the Sutton storm and guide his side to victory with some 10 overs to spare.
The loss, their ninth of the season, leaves Sutton uncomfortably close to the drop zone, with Doddington now just 20 points behind.
