HADDENHAM swept to the top of Division 5A after romping to a mammoth 149-run victory over Chatteris.

Sent in to bat first, the home side were in no mood for a spell of measured and patient play, instead plumping to dispatching ball after ball boundary-ward on the way to a daunting seven-an-over 283-3.

Jeff Buck (119) and Neil Smith (82) were the heroes on the day for the home side as their resilient stand of 196 proved the key to their teams success.

Having already racked up an impressive 82 with the bat, Smith turned his attentions to the ball and soon had the visitors reeling, with his impressive pace bowling securing a decent return of 3-17. Mel Prior (2-22) also pitched in admirably to see Chatteris dismissed for just 134.
