In their final match of the season, Fordham just missed out on gaining a promotion from Tucker Gardner Division Two when they went down by two wickets at Blunham, who were promoted themselves.
The narrow defeat cannot detract from a splendid second half of the season for a young Fordham side, who can only improve.
Batting first, Fordham posted 189-8 with Luke Duplooy making 53, Gareth Summerskill 39, Mark Abbott 21 and Tim Sale 20 not out.
Blunham were in deep trouble at 107-7, but their lower order batted well and they got home with four balls to spare for the loss of eight wickets.
Sam Buck took 4-24 for Fordham, with Charlie Forden taking 3-57.
Burwell racked up almost 300 runs against Graet Witchingham ... and still comfortably lost.
There were contributions all the way down the batting order in Burwell’s 297-9. Lalit Bose top scored with 62, with Ben Bryant making 46 and number nine Alex Sears 42 not out.
But Great Witchingham knocked off the runs for the loss of three wickets in 47.5 overs. The openers did the damage - James Spelman (129no) and Sam Arthurton (118) added 218 for the first wicket. Sears took 3-80.
Burwell II finished eighth in the Tucker Garner Premier after a nine wicket loss to Saffron Walden II.
Batting first, Burwell II got off to a solid start through Ben Barna-Laue (36) and James Seabrook (29), who put on an opening stand of 59. But then the wheels came off and they were dismissed for 151. Saffron Walden II knocked off the runs with ease.
