NICHOLAS Johnson from the Littleport Judo Club has won a bronze medal at the South of England Open Age-banded Judo competition.
Nicholas, 12, was the youngest and lightest competitors in the under-60kg category at K2, in Crawley, but put in an impressive performance.
He narrowly lost his first contest but a confident throw inside 10 seconds of the second secured victory and a place in the semi-finals.
Nicholas battled hard and lost on the semi-final but was delighted by his bronze medal.
He will now concentrate on competing in identification events that will qualify him for British Judo's World Class Start Program for promising young players.
Sam Lachmann and Harry Welchman won bronze and gold medals respectively in a local Inter Club event for eight to 11 year-olds at North Lopham, near Diss.
At a promotion examination in Thetford, Daniel Tuck was promoted to eighth mon (orange belt and two tags) in the junior section and his sister, Laura, was promoted to fifth kyu, (top green belt) in the senior section.
