THE hard working players, coaches and supporters of Stretham Netball Club have raised more than �1,500 for charity.
The club, who have two teams competing in the Cambs and District Netball League, have held a number of fund raising events and activities over the last three months, raising hundreds of pounds for good causes as a result.
In May, the club organised a county-wide tournament for the 15 teams competing in their league and also hosted cake stalls, a tombola and a raffle.
The raffle was a particular success and the club were able to donate hundreds of pounds for charity thanks to donations made by local businesses.
Spurred on by the success of their first fund-raising efforts, the club were out in force for the Race for Life event in Cambridge on July 4. Eight club members took part and raised more than �200 for Cancer Research UK.
Stretham Netball Club train on Wednesday evenings at Wicken Recreation Ground, Chapel Lane, Wicken between 7.30-8.30pm and welcome new players of all ages and abilities. The first taster session if free.
