Falcons Netball Club started off the second half of the Cambridge and District Netball League on Monday night with a 31-26 win against Chesterton.
The Littleport-based club were closely matched with their opposition ending the first quarter equal on seven goals a piece. Half time saw Littleport creep up to a seven-goal lead, 17-10, and with some more precision shooting by goal attack Laura Neaves and goal shooter Lowri Griffiths, as well as some unbeatable defending by Rachel Hollingworth and Lindsey Neaves, Chesterton were unable to score in the third quarter with Falcons soaring to a 24-10 lead. Chesterton finally picked up their game in the final quarter with the whistle blown on 31-26.
Falcons start the season in third position, only 10 points behind leaders Haddenham 2. However, this six-point win will see them aiming for the top spot.
Falcons train on Monday evenings at Littleport Leisure Centre from 7pm and are always pleased to welcome new talent. If you are interested in finding out more contact Laura on 01353 662088 or Victoria on 01353 863770 or visit their website at www.birdswithballs.co.uk.
