Ely 2 went into the holiday season holding second place in division 4, one point behind Cottenham 3. Their first match of the new year was away against Haddenham 3.

Ely started the match confidently, if not a little untidy, and by half time had secured a comfortable 16-4 lead. Haddenham 3 started the second half well and the on court play was tight but the home team were not able to convert their chances into goals.

The final score of 34-11 gave Ely their eighth win of the season but did not do justice to the home side's performance.

Jenny Calvert (GA) was voted player of the match for Ely 2. Their next match will be crucial, a home tie against the leaders Cottenham 3.
