More records tumble for Ely riders

Ely and District Cycling Club’s Matt Eley shaved two minutes off his personal best time at the Zak Carr Memorial time trial at the weekend.

Eley completed the 25-mile course in 53 minutes and 58 seconds to finish in 46th place out of a field of 134 riders.

Eley’s club mate Phil Gosling was also competing and came home in 1hr 6seconds to take 120th place – taking two-and-a-half minutes off his personal best time for a 25mile time trial.

The winner, Matthew Smith, of team Velovelocity.com, finished in a time of 48 minutes and 34 seconds, three seconds ahead of his team mate, Rhys Howells, in second.
