IT was a mixed weekend for the City of Ely club in their final showings of the season with two teams in action.

The all-conquering first team finished their championship winning season on a disappointing note as they slipped to a 3-2 loss at home to Peterborough 4. Goals from Tommy Hugo and Chris Purlant looked to have done enough for a share of the spoils but the visitors rallied and took the points.

There was better news meanwhile, for Ely 2s as they thrashed Cambridge Nomads 7-0 to cement their place in sixth position in Division 4NW of the East Hockey League.
