Mildenhall Town 4 Woodbridge Town 2

MILDENHALL came through a tough test of character on Saturday to stay top of the table, but slipped to second after Wroxham beat Halstead 4-1 on Tuesday.

Matty Clements put 'Hall into the lead midway through the first half with a neat finish at the back post after Simon Head flicked on Paul Miles' cross.

Both goalkeepers made good saves in an open first half, but the game really came to life in the second period.

Ozie Foster raced on to a long ball to double Mildenhall's lead in the 55th minute, but the visitors pulled one back five minutes later when Joe Francis converted a good cross. Stand-in captain Gareth Simpson restored Mildenhall's two goal advantage with a low drive from the edge of the box.

Woodbridge came back hard and they were rewarded when Allicion Blake converted a low cross from close range to bring it to 3-2.

The visitors threw men forward as they searched for an equaliser, but a clinical Mildenhall counter attack in the 85th minute was finished with Liam Harrold rounding the goalkeeper and squaring for Niall Inman to tap into an empty net.

# Mildenhall play Woodbridge again, away on Saturday, and Leiston at home on Tuesday night.
