Mepal Sports 1 Witchford 14

Witchford got back to winning ways with a classy win at Mepal.

Max Loker chalked up another hat-trick within five minutes and added a fourth on the rebound when Jack Sheridan's shot was parried by the keeper.

Sheridan scored the first of his two goals before Jordan Emms added a brace, the first direct from a corner.

Mepal got a goal back before half-time but goals from Toby Roswell and Henry Green made it 9-1 at the end of the second quarter.

Witchford continued to press forward, with Henry Green netting a hat-trick and Max Loker finishing with six goals for the second time in three games.

Haddenham 1 Ely Crusaders 0

Ely's disjointed start to the campaign continued after a three-week break.

Both sides were guilty of missing the few chances that came their way in a poor quality fixture.

Haddenham relied mainly on breakaways and one brought the only goal of the match.

Despite the best efforts of Crusaders' man-of-the-match George Leech, and some spells of pressure late on, a lack of cutting edge proved Ely's downfall.

Haddenham Rovers 1

Ely Crusaders 0

Ely forced several early corners, but Rovers eased their way into the match and took the lead when Josh Lowe and Jake Alsop combined well, and Matthew Wright fired home a 15-yard volley off the underside of the bar.

Rovers threatened to extend their lead with Ricky Sawyer and man-of-the-match Kieran Petty coming close and Nick Threadgold crashing a long-range effort against the bar.

But they needed a great save from Will Darlington and a late goal-line clearance from Joseph Alsop to stay ahead.

Mepal Sports 12 Soham B 1

Mepal Sports turned in a fine display of attacking football in their first home game of the season against Soham's second string, having beaten their first string 5-3 last week.

Sports started brightly, with Jacob Waters instrumental in many of Mepal's best moments and grabbing their opener.

The exemplary James Knox was in great form at the heart of Mepal's defence, marshalling the back line of Thomas Smith, Joshua Fenner and Joe-Joe Corlito.

Some fine moves resulted in goals for midfielders George Rayner, Shane Whatley and Serifo Balde on his debut.

Although Soham battled gamely and grabbed a deserved consolation, Sports' marksmen Kassem Silvain (5) and man-of-the-match Harrison Jones (3) were in ruthless form, accompanied on the scoresheet by Daniel Oakland.

Witchford 3

Matthew Loades gave Witchford an eighth-minute lead in this first round Knock Out Cup tie.

Nathan Francis made it 2-0, and the home side could not beat Witchford goalkeeper Ruairidh MacDonald.

The second half saw great defending by man-of-the-match Nathan Francis and a third goal by Nathan Parker.

Willingham Wolves 2

Soham United 5

Willingham took advantage of a missed offside call shortly before half-time, but United bounced back straight away with Reece Peacock collecting the ball through man-of-the-match Alex Theobald.

After the break United came out stronger and it wasn't long before right back Jordan Chambers collected the ball just outside the box and calmly slotted home through a ruck of defenders.

Alex Theobald then added two more to complete his hat-trick, and subsequently took his personal tally to four as Soham clinched their first victory.

Witchford 1 Milton 3

Another slow start for Witchford cost them dearly. Both teams created first-half chances - Milton took theirs while the home side did not.

The first was from a through ball on the left, leaving Witchford keeper Brandon Phillips no cover, and the second was a free header from a corner.

Witchford created more chances after the break but it was the visitors who went 3-0 up with a low shot at the near post following yet another corner.

Al Hewitt pulled one back for the home side but - despite the best efforts of man-of-the-match Charlie Scott - they couldn't retrieve the deficit.

Huntingdon Rowdies 2

Haddenham Rovers 1

Haddenham Rovers narrowly went out of the League Cup at the first hurdle.

Drawn against top-of-the-league A section opponents, the B league visitors matched their opponents throughout a goalless first half.

Two quickfire goals in the opening minutes of the second half changed the complexion of the game, but the visitors regrouped and came back strongly.

With 20 minutes remaining, Tyrell Barrett's determined run and pass found Oliver Holden, who slotted home to reduce the arrears to a single goal.

Haddenham pushed hard for an equaliser, but the home team held on for the win.

Eaton Socon 6 Littleport Town 0

Littleport competed well but left empty-handed. They conceded four goals in the closing period, and only the hard-working Morgan Coleridge gave a reasonable account of himself.

Isleham 5 Hundon Hawks 2

A good crowd saw Isleham progress to the second round of the Knockout Cup at the expense of Hundon Hawks.

Goalkeeper Jack Leigh was called into action twice as Hundon made the early running, but the visitors established a two-goal lead which they looked like extending when Leigh brought down an attacker for a penalty.

Leigh's fine save inspired Isleham and Jordan Theobald pulled two goals back to level the scores before half-time.

Jordan Neal fired home his first goal in five years at the club to put the hosts in front for the first time, and the same player - joint man-of-the-match with goalkeeper Leigh - struck again.

Theobald went on to complete his hat-trick, when a speculative punt forward bounced awkwardly over the goalkeeper's head, to make it 5-2.

Little Downham Eagles 2

Aztec Juniors B 10

Eagles were quickly 2-0 down in this first round Cup match and never really recovered despite a man-of-the-match performance from Oliver Cowan.

Tom Bradney had a shot after a good run across the box but shortly after that Aztecs scored their third.

Dan Burdin got on the scoresheet when he beat a couple of defenders before drilling a low shot past the keeper, but Aztecs replied with another to make it 5-1 before a free-kick from Jack Ure hit the crossbar.

Aztecs scored another three after the break, and although a shot from Nathan Grainger was well held by the keeper and a corner from Daniel Mould was cleared off the line, the visitors ran out 10-2 winners after Tom Bradney had struck again for the hosts.

Littleport Town 4 Bar Hill 5

'Port let this D League match slip from their grasp after being 3-0 up.

Ben Hawkins opened the scoring for the hosts with a curling free-kick from just outside the box, and Nico Bishop scored twice - one a fine lob over the keeper and the other a follow up after his spot-kick had been saved.

A lack of concentration let the visitors back in and they scored two quick goals just before half-time.

At the start of the second half Bar Hill piled on the pressure to level the scores, and although 'Port's play improved and Bishop broke clear to net his third of the game, Bar Hill came back to take the spoils by the odd goal in nine.

Needingworth 1 Soham United 8

Soham continued their fine start with an excellent footballing display at Needingworth. Olly Henderson converted Callum Eley's pass at the start, and Eley's brace made it 3-0 before Henderson grabbed his second.

The hosts replied before half-time, but Ryan Brooks struck with a 25-yard free-kick and substitute Murray King scored twice to make it 7-1.

Man-of-the-match Liam Purton then capped a terrific display with a 30-yard striker for Soham's final goal.

Soham Town 5 Ely Crusaders 'A' 2

Soham maintained their unbeaten start with a fine home win.

Elliott Drewery's cross-cum-shot found the net to open the scoring, and he made it 2-0 with a header.

Man-of-the-match Josh Nunn set up Graham Carson for number three with a defence-splitting pass, and Drewery's inswinging corner was deflected in by a defender to make it 4-1 after Crusaders had pulled one back.

Ely grabbed another goal after the break, but Carson slotted home in the closing stages to clinch the points.

Ely City 2 Haverhill 7

Ely found themselves three goals down before Matt Waites won and converted a penalty.

After a couple of near-misses City scored again when Frazer Shipp beat the keeper from just inside the box.

With the game wide open at this stage goalkeeper Tom Jordan - City's man-of-the-match - pulled off some fine saves while Alex Newton, Sean Richardson, Chris Smith and Jamie McCarthy held firm in defence.

City pushed hard for an equaliser as Will Law and Ryan Howell had shots well saved, but the next goal was always going to crucial and it fell to the visitors.

Ely ran out of steam as Haverhill scored three times in the last eight minutes.

Under-16

Milton Colts 1 Ely City Colts 1

This game was crucial for both teams who are in the bottom three of Division A, and City started brightly enough with Ryan Lane scoring after two minutes.

The match was both physical and entertaining, and City's defence - led by captain Aidan Hutton - withstood a lot of pressure after taking the lead.

Chances were created at both ends after the break, with Milton equalising 10 minutes from time despite the efforts of man-of-the-match Michael Dawson.
