A VIRTUOSO performance from striker Robbie Mason helped earn Ely their first win in eight league games on Saturday.

The mercurial front-man bagged four goals in an excellent performance for the Robins, with strike partner Nick Impey notching a brace to secure a much-needed win for Alan Alsop’s men.

The win moves City five-points clear of the drop zone and up into 17th place in the Ridgeons Premier League.

Mason opened the scoring after just two minutes and the lead was quickly doubled with 11 minutes gone as Impey smashed home. To their credit, Histon fought back and managed to restore parity before Mason struck once more a minute short of the break.

A penalty less than 10 minutes into the second half saw Mason complete his hattrick and Impey moved the Robins out of sight in the 71st minute with a well taken goal. Mason completed the scoring in the 89th minute.
