TWO riders make their Mildenhall debuts in Sunday's derby with Rye House Rockets after the shock sacking of Czech Mario Jirout.

Jirout scored just one point in Mildenhall's defeat at Glasgow last weekend.

The former Grand Prix and Elite League rider infuriated team-mates, management and fans with his apparent lack of effort at the meeting, retiring from several races.

Team manager Laurence Rogers said: "His performance and behaviour at Glasgow was unacceptable - he's let everyone down.

"He has been unsettling team spirit and we have had ongoing problems with him, which I thought had passed.

"But his performance in Glasgow, where he just coasted around the back, was the last straw. I doubt he'll ever race in British speedway again after this."

Another Czech Republic rider, Tomas Suchanek, and veteran Paul Fry have been brought into the Mildenhall squad.

Suchanek lost the 2005 World Under-21 Championship on the toss of a coin to Krzysztof Kasprzak. He first rode in the UK in 2003 in Rogers' King's Lynn BL Cup side and impressed.

He was not retained, though, with the Stars choosing fellow countryman Jan Jaros over him.

He went to the Isle of Wight before a surprise transfer to Poole to ride in the Elite League. He went to Redcar last year where he established himself before Somerset signed him at the start of this season.

Fry comes with a wealth of experience and is regarded as one of the sport's "Peter Pans."

His career started in 1984 as a junior at Cradley Heath and he has graced the colours of Arena Essex, Stoke, Long Eaton, King's Lynn, Exeter, Newport, Swindon and Somerset.

Rogers said: "With the great team spirit we have at Mildenhall I think both riders will settle in quickly and help continue our solid start to the league campaign."

The Fen Tigers go into Sunday's meeting vying for a place in the Knockout Cup quarter-final. They held the Rockets to a 10-point lead in the first leg despite an engine failure and a dubious refereeing decision in the same heat to hand Rye House a 5-0 heat score.

The last time these two sides met the meeting was abandoned after Stuart Robson picked up a serious injury, with the score 25-23 to Mildenhall at the time and with the Premier Trophy meeting ending 45-44, the task in front of the Fen Tigers is a tough one.

- The meeting on Sunday starts at 4.30pm.
