Kershaw Premier League

IT has been a fantastic start to the season for Littleport Town who have gathered maximum points from their two opening games, with six goals scored and none conceded.

Their first match of the season saw them travel the short distance to old adversaries, Ely City Reserves where they grabbed an all important 3-0 victory to get their campaign off with a bang. Three second-half goals did the trick for Port, with Kevin Hills scoring after 54 minutes, Michael Emms after 65 minutes and sub Jose Montez Monteiro who notched after 82 minutes to complete a very satisfying evening for the men in green.

They added to this impressive start with victory by the same score against Hardwick. All the goals came in the first half, this time with David Cornwell weighing in with a double after Ben Layn had opened the scoring after just five minutes.

Ely City Reserves swiftly bounced back from their derby defeat with an impressive 6-1 win over Eaton Socon. Hero of the day was Tafadzwa Chisango who netted an imperious quartet of strikes for the Robins Reserves, with Lewis Joseph and Sammy Egbayelo also getting themselves on the sheet to give the scoreline a very satisfying look after a tough first match.

Soham Town Rangers Reserves began life in the top division with an unfortunate defeat to a strong Sawston United outfit who, despite having a man sent off, came away from Soham with a 3-1 win.

Kershaw Senior A

IT was a much better start for near neighbours Soham United who won by the same margin as the Rangers defeat at to Sawston. Mark Allen, Craig Neal and sub Steve Dalby all scored for United, who will be hoping to build on their 10th place last season and hopefully join their local rivals in the top division next season.

Kershaw Senior B.

LITTLEPORT Town Reserves return to Kershaw Senior B was not the one boss Andrew Lee would have been hoping for as they lost 2-1 at home to Outwell Swifts, with just Sam Dickinson’s strike to show for their midweek endeavours. Port Reserves will be hoping for better in their next outing, which is a tricky tie at Lakenheath Reserves but if they can re-kindle last season’s promotion form then the sky is the limit for Lee’s side.
