Kershaw Premier

ELY City Reserves had an up and down week as they were put to the sword 4-1 in midweek at home to Over Sports, Matthew Keys scoring the consolation for the wounded Robins.

The tables were turned on the Saturday though, as they romped to a 3-1 victory at West Wratting. Adam Salmons (2) and Sam James were the glory boys with the goals for Ely.

It was a better week for Littleport Town as they secured a thrilling 3-3 draw at Histon 'A' early on in the week and followed that up with three more points at the weekend with a fine 3-0 win at Foxton.

Scorers for 'Port against The Stutes were young prospect Sean Monigatti after 20 minutes, David Cornwell after 35 and Michael Emms on 50. Foxton were left cursing efforts from Ben Layn who netted twice and Cornwell.

Fordham are left staring into the abyss of relegation as they could only manage one point from their two games in the week, which may not be enough to keep them in the division next season. The week started well for Fordham with a well-earned 1-1 draw against a strong Hundon side. Fordham's Johnny Flack scored a terrific 25-yarder that helped share the spoils. It all went wrong on Saturday though, as Fordham found themselves 3-0 down to Cottenham United and even though Fordham sub Hakim Latim scored within two minutes of coming on, United finished another move off to go home with a 4-1 win.

Senior A

SOHAM Town Rangers Reserves won one and lost one this week with a 3-2 loss at Mildenhall Town Reserves followed up by a fine 2-0 win at Brampton.

Mark Allen and Thomas Christie were on target in the agonising narrow defeat to Mildenhall with Scott Lightfoot and Daniel Sterna claiming the goals in the impressive win at Brampton.

Senior B

SOHAM United's dream of going up into Senior A for the first time in their history lives on as they secured a 2-1 win against West Wratting Reserves on Thursday and topped it off with a cracking 4-2 home victory against second-placed Wisbech St Mary.

Jim Brown and Lee Moll scored the vital goals against Wratting and even though a tough St Mary side were in front just before half-time, Soham's young dreamers hit back to take the points.

Jonathan Brown had opened the scoring for United and a bizarre own goal made it two each. Jim Brown then took over with a fabulously taken double as Soham enter one of the most vital weeks in their history.

Haddenham Rovers had a forgettable week with losses at Ely City 'A' by three goals to two and at leaders Linton Granta 10-2. Will Ludbrooke and Aron Spencer scored for Rovers, but goals from Robins' Matt Brodie, Jamie Linney and Steve Pollard secured a tight win. Phil Harle and Simon Rudnicki were Haddenham's scorers against Granta who then put double figures past them on a disappointing afternoon for Rovers.

Ely City 'A' could not reproduce their midweek form on the weekend as they went down 4-1 at home to Fowlmere.

Division 1B

SUTTON United suffered another bad week of results with a heavy 6-0 loss at Elsworth Sports and a close 1-1 draw away to Littleport Town Reserves.

Relegation is now unavoidable for Sutton and even though they battled to a draw at Port with the help of a David Gipp goal, Division 2B looms for them next season. Town opened the scoring through Darren Lawrence but could not capitalise on their greater possession and chances on another frustrating afternoon for them.

Division 2B

THE Vine's promotion hopes suffered a hammer blow as the lost 4-0 at second from bottom strugglers Godmanchester Rovers Reserves, who somehow managed a miraculous performance after a poor season so far.

Witchford '96 suffered their first defeat in nine matches as they finally surrendered their unbeaten record to Over Sports Reserves. Losing 4-2.

The week had started well with a fine victory at Milton Reserves even though they did not play well. Dale Hoey was the match-winner for '96 with a screamer on his wrong foot. Hoey scored again against Sports as well as Michael Ward but only in defeat as Over surged 4-1 ahead shortly after half-time. '96 were better in the second half but for the first time in a very long while came away pointless.

Pymoor tasted two defeats this week as they lost 4-3 at home to Burwell Swifts in their second meeting in four days and then lost away to second-placed Huntingdon RGE 4-2 in a creditable performance. Jason Cridford and Rob Parker were on target for Pymoor against Huntingdon.

Division 3B

ELY Crusaders had a memorable week as they secured nine points out of nine to really put themselves in the promotion mix in this section.

The week started perfectly with a late 2-1 win against Little Downham Swifts. Crusaders' Scott Fretwell and Luke Schunmann cancelling out in-form Swifts striker Arron Hodson's goal for Downham. Crus followed this up with a 5-1 win at Brampton Reserves, rounding off their mighty week with a 4-2 humbling of league leaders Earith United. They went 3-0 up before half-time against shell-shocked United with Schunmann again scoring with Jim Rolfe's header making it two. Joshua Bailey added the third before Earith made a game of it with a two-goal reply in the second half. Schunmann had the last laugh though as he scored again to secure the points.

It was a disastrous week at the other end of the table for Fordham Reserves as they lost the relegation clash at home to Exning Athletic on the Saturday 4-1, even though they managed a good midweek 2-2 draw at Bluntisham Rangers Reserves.

Harry O'Connor's brace at Bluntisham left Fordham two up with 20 minutes left at Rangers but this was unfortunately pegged back by the promotion hopefuls. Johnny Mitchell's great run and strike levelled the scores versus Exning on Saturday but the home side handed Exning at least three goals on a plate to put their hopes of survival precariously in the balance.

Little Downham bounced back to beat Cottenham United 'A' 3-2 at the weekend as Hodson scored again. Leading scorer Dan Bell notched and Kevin Parfitt's fine winner kept Swifts faint hopes of promotion alive.

Mepal Sports recorded a great 4-1 win against Brampton with Chris Sylvain and Luke Wilson both scoring excellent doubles.

Isleham United beat Exning Athletic by four goals to one early in the week and then capitulated at home to Chatteris Town Reserves 2-0.

Stetham Hotspurs lost 3-0 to the same Chatteris opposition earlier in the week and followed this up with a 1-1 draw at Bluntisham Rangers Reserves with James Tasker's goal securing a point.

Division 4B

HADDENHAM Rovers Reserves managed to turn up on the Saturday after forfeiting their game at Emneth Spartans on the Thursday and made this count with a super 2-1 victory.

Wicken Amateurs lost twice this week with a 3-2 reverse to Burwell Swifts Reserves even though goals from Steven Kesseck and Graham Hickmott had given them hope. A comprehensive 4-1 defeat at Outwell Swifts Reserves followed, thus ensuring a bad week for the Amateurs.

Soham United Reserves also had a shocker as they were stunned 5-0 at leaders Fenstanton Reserves even though forty minutes of the second half were goal-less.

Division 5C

MEPAL Sports Reserves' promotion hopes were in tatters after three games in a week produced two wins but one crucial loss as they left themselves with a mountain to climb to claim a promotion spot.

It all started well with a 3-2 derby win against Witchford '96 Reserves where Ashley Dougan claimed the winner deep into injury time. Justin Challis and Chris Axford were also on target for Mepal and David Chase and Shaun Gimbert were on the sheet for '96.

A goal from David Fisher accounted for Swavesey Institute Reserves in a 1-0 victory but it all fell apart at Longstanton Reserves as they were humbled 5-0.

A quite remarkable game at Burwell Swifts 'A' saw Little Downham Reserves let in four first half goals but replied with nine of their own as they went on to record a 16-4 win against a Burwell.

A virtuoso performance from Downham youngster Jordan Lee, saw him claim a hatrick and set up countless other goals for his team. The beneficiaries were Gareth Draper (6), Liam Boyd with two super strikes, Captain Nick Marsh with two more, Steve Martin, Dickie Driver and a composed Dan Hines finished off matters for the unstoppable Swifts.

Witchford '96 Reserves and Sutton United Reserves endured two home defeats by 4-1 at home to Girton United 'A' and 3-0 to Waterbeach 'A' respectively. Isleham United Reserves also ran aground against Beach in a 1-0 loss.
