LITTLEPORT Town have been forced to fold their first team after no manager could be found to take over for the upcoming season.

Last season, player managers Dave Beeton and Paul Starling took the helm but announced in May that, due to work committments, they would not be renewing their position for the start of the 2013/14 season.

The pair led Littleport to a respectable 10th place finish in the Kershaw Premier League.

Beeton and Starling took over the manager’s role from long-time manager Dave Cullum. An appeal was put out for a new manager by club chairman Bod Bowditch but no applications were forthcoming.

A post on the Littleport Town FC Twitter page read: “Due to no new manager, plus a number of players leaving, the club has decided to remove its first team from the cambs premier league

“The club will now have two senior sides in Division 1b and 4b of the cambs league.”
