A LATE equaliser for Ely City III earned them a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw at lowly St Ives
City came into the game riding high in second place in Division 5NW but were sluggish from the outset against bottom-side St Ives and fell a goal behind.
The Saints endeavoured to take the game to Ely and their goal came through Alex Cleland.
Further raids on the Ely defence could have extended the lead but errant finishing from front-men Michael Jenner and Mick Forsdick let Ely off the hock.
In the second-half the visitors stepped up their game and began finding their attacking form that has seen them pick up nine victories so far this season.
Valiant defending kept Ely at bay until the dying minutes but the pressure finally told as City broke away to score through Chris Roberts
The draw sees Ely slip down to third place ahead of their derby clash with Wisbech on Saturday.
