Hockey Ely 2 Louth 1

ELY Ladies recovered from going a goal down to wrap up a narrow victory over Louth on Saturday.

Despite creating a host of good chances early on, Ely failed to take advantage as Louth held on.

Midfielders Pamela Clarke and Megan Radcliffe showed great vision and battled hard to keep Ely in the ascendancy but, against the run of play, Louth’s first break resulted in the opening goal.

This fuelled Ely to strike back and some excellent link-up play between Gemma Mott and Chanre Bond saw the latter score to make it 1-1 at half-time.

Ely come out strongly for the second half and with clever use of substitutions, the manager and captain on the bench made sure fresh legs were being deployed tactically.

After a fresh round of missed opportunities, Bond took the game in hand and made sure an excellent strike left the goalkeeper no chance of saving.

Annie Radcliffe was once again warded player of the match. The youngest player in the team showed grit, determination and superb skills to excel and help her team to victory.
