THE new Cambridgeshire U16 korfball team (CKA) impressed in their first outing at the weekend as they overcome teams from London and Norfolk to take tournament victory.

Though it was Cambridgeshire's first outing as a team, and up against established opposition in Norfolk and London at that, they showed an encouraging confidence that saw them secure overall victory.

The first match against Norfolk proved an irresistibly tight affair with the lead changing hands on several occasions. Despite Norfolk going into the lead with full-time fast approaching, CKA managed to come back and were up by two with only a couple of minutes to go. Two late Norfolk goals meant the match ended all square at 10-10.

In their next match CKA took on London and their burgeoning confidence showed as they looked comfortable throughout. After leading for much of the game, CKA stretched away in the final minutes, securing a 13-7 win overall.
