A determined fightback was not enough for Littleport Lions to win against Cambridge-based Phoenix on Friday night.

Despite coming back from 10-3 down, time was always against Lions and they eventually went down 10-9.

Lions II defeated Phoenix III 6-5 in the evening's second match. Strong performances came from under-16s Natasha Fox and Chris Brown. Brown scored twice as did Andrew Sills.

On Thursday, the third team won 10-3 away at Phoenix four.

This extends their lead at the top of Cambridge and District Division Three to five points, they remain unbeaten through this season with only three games to play. A win in their next game will secure the league with two games still to play.
