Littleport Lions One Korfball club emerged victorious from an intense battle against Ely Vikings Two, but were made to work hard for the win by their Cambridgeshire Korfball League Division One rivals.

Littleport continued their excellent league form, winning 18-16, but left it late against to snatch a vital win.

Vikings Two started the game strongly and built a lead at the start of the first half. However, Lions One responded well and notched three goals of their own , taking a 7-6 lead into the half time break.

When play resumed, Lions One remained in control, increasing their advantage by four goals. Vikings Two made three substitutions, and these changes proved to be inspired as they managed to bring the score level to 15-15.

Lions sealed the victory in dramatic style when Lindsey Neaves scored a spectacular long shot with only two minutes left on the clock.

Club captain Alex Andrews delivered one of his best games of the season; scoring four goals, and he said: “I’m very proud of the way everyone played today. We put in maximum effort and deserved the win.”
