Five Ely school children won a haul of awards at the Littleport Low Grade 4’s Judo Tournament.
King’s Ely Junior pupils Oliver Loveday, Mienke Putter, Nicholas Marshall, Lucas Hilcenko and Joseph Sibson were among over 120 young people who entered the competition on February 25.
Oliver won a bronze medal in the under 11 years old/less than 34kg category, Mienke won a silver medal in the under 11 years old/less than 34kg category, Nicholas won a bronze medal in the under 11 years old/less than 36kg category, Lucas won a bronze medal in the under 12 years old/less than 42kg category and Joseph won a bronze medal in the under 12 years old/less than 64kg category.
The day before the tournament, Lucas represented King’s Ely Junior at the HMC Independent School Boys Judo Tournament in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.
Despite being one of the youngest competitors on the day, Lucas finished fourth in the junior/under 42kg category.
